Self build plots ready to sit within Newcastle Great Park

29 April 2013

Nearly 40 self build plots are being planned as an addition to the Newcastle Great Park (NGP) scheme - a large urban extension to the north of the city centre.

Last October, The Self Build Portal reported that mainstream housebuilder Persimmon Homes was proposing to include a number of self build serviced plots on the NGP development.

Nice to see some further info on this scheme being made public. My only concerns, as someone who is currently renting in NGP and considering a self-build for the future is that the development philosophy and design styles of these estates is in contrast to what most self builders desire, e.g. tiny town gardens, cramped overlooked plots, and will the design code be flexible enough.

Also does anyone know which estate these plots are on, e.g. Melbury, Warkworth Woods, Greenside, Brunton Grange etc?

Looks pretty good.

The article does not say much about energy use?

Wonder how they compare to the Zero Bills kits now available from the Zero Bills Home Co being installed?
